Operating Systems

When ordering a virtual server, one of the pre-installed Linux-based operating systems can be selected.

It is always just a basic installation without additional software. The customer has access to the server with full rights through SSH as the root user.

The last option is to order a virtual server without an operating system. After the server is set up in Customer Administration, the customer will attach a CD / DVD of their choice, booting the CD / DVD and performing their own installation of any system. If the customer installs an operating system that requires a license, the customer is required to own such a license and submit it upon request.

Unlike with a web hosting, we do not care for the server with the VPS, we do not install the necessary software, nor do we configure and modify it according to the customer’s wish, etc. (this is only done in the form of paid work by our technicians).

The virtual server does not contain any other software (eg. WWW server, PHP, database, etc.). This is only a basic operating system installation. The installation and configuration of any other software and services is under the full control of the customer! Various operating system distributions and various management tools are available. If you do not have experience with this, and you do not have anyone to take care of it, we recommend choosing a web hosting.

The VPS SSD is a server running on virtualized hardware. The whole server is just yours, the operating system of your choice is installed on it and you have full administrator rights. Any software can be installed and run on it. The server can be reinstalled at any time and the operating system changed.

The VPS SSD is designed for the most demanding customers, who are not satisfied with our web hosting offer and at the same time have the need for special settings (which cannot be offered by a shared web hosting), the installation of special features (which cannot be added to a web hosting), better performance and do not want to pay for a dedicated (dedicated whole physical machine for one customer) server. The virtual machine is created on a very powerful server, ie. the performance of a very powerful (and expensive) rack and brand server is divided into smaller parts, and each customer gets a proportionate portion of the entire performance at a relative price.

We make sure that no one of our servers is overloaded and therefore the physical resources of the servers are dimensioned to avoid sharing or restricting them between customers. Our main advantages, in addition to the unrivaled price, are that DDR3 RAM is dedicated, ie. guaranteed.

A snapshot is (in the context of virtualization) the state of the virtual server at a certain time. This includes disk device and RAM status. Thus, after the VPS is restored from the snapshot, the server is in the exact state it was in when it was created.

So how many snapshots you pay for, is how many of them you will be able to create at most. Snapshots can be created / deleted / restored at your discretion. It is possible to order 1-10 snapshots.

KVM (Keyboard-Video-Mouse) is a generic name for remote access to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse from a server. This approach does not depend on the operating system, so it works even when the operating system crashes on VPS, it can also be used to boot systems from a CD / DVD, control BIOS etc.
